This past weekend, I was asked by two members of the club what I used to clean up my airplane after a day of flying.
Anyway, I generally wipe off the most 'goopy' areas (beneath the airplane where the exhaust stacks exit...) with paper towells first. Then, I spritz on a mixture of 30% Simple Green (the balance, water) and wipe it all down. This mixture appears to cut the grease pretty well, and puts a good shine on the paint or monokote.
After one wipe-down, I feel more comfortable putting the airplane back in the car. Occasionally, I'll give the plane another cleanup at home, and after two wipe-downs with my Simple Green mixture, it's squeaky-clean!
