The model is based on a slope soarer called the "Gryphon". The original Gryphon has a 72 inch wingspan. This one is an extra large version (96" span) so I call it the Gryphon XL. The Gryphon XL is powered by a Webra 61 Black Head which seems to be about right. The controls are elevons, rudder and throttle. The elevons are controlled by coupled servos in each wing. The airplane is extremely stable and all maneuvers are large and slow. Surprisingly, the model will knife edge. Wing loading works out to 15 1/2 ounces per square foot. Originally I had planned on retracts but decided I needed the landing gear hanging down to help with orientation. Orientation is definitely a problem.
