Dehaviland Beaver

The model is about a 1/8 scale version built from Model Airplane News plans and is the second plane built from the same plans. This one is different in that I developed conventional scale landing gear since the plans only show a float version. The odd configuration required making several fiberglass covers over the wire gear. All radio gear except the throttle servo is located below the cabin floor, allowing a scale interior. The throttle servo is hidden in a simulated shipping crate tied down on the cabin floor. Instrument panel mimics photos from a real Beaver. A Super Tiger 0.60 (vintage 1976) provides too much power. Cover and most graphics are done in Monokote, including the simulated corrugations on the elevators, rudder, flaps, and ailerons. The company logo was cumputer cut by a firm in Ramona. Flies like a trainer! Unless you dial in full power. Flaps are operational and the wing struts on that long skinny wing were made semi-functional. Wing span is 72 inches.
