Here are photos of the SSV2, a purpose built, dedicated AP aircraft of my own design. It is all electric, and carries a Pentax Optio S4i 4 mp camera quite nicely. It has a 60" wingspan, 8" constant cord wing for 480 sq. inch wing area using a modified Clark Y airfoil wing of my own design. The wing and tail assembly are designed to be disassembled for travel or shipment by unbolting them from the fuselage (tail) and each other (4 wing panels). The camera can take up to 356 hires stills, or up to 27 minutes of video stored on its 1 gb SD memory card. The camera is mounted in a Plasma I camera mount. The aircraft has a flight duration of over 30 minutes with throttle management, even more if thermals are available. The brushless motor is a Typhoon 15 outrunner powered through a Phoenix 35 amp ESC by a Thunderpower 11.1 vdc 2100mah LiPo battery pack. I am currently using a Shadow 3 receiver and Polk transmitter to control the two HS-55 servos onboard. The camera is controlled by a Hexpertsystems PRISM IR switch hooked to channel 5 for shutter control. Here are some photos of the SSV2.
