2008 Los Caballeros Day

January 19, 2008 - Los Caballeros Day

The Palomar RC Flyers hosted Los Caballeros, a youth group from North County, to educate and treat about 16 kids and their chaperons to the joys of RC aircraft modeling. John Sebastian hosted a class on the construction and creation of RC models and demonstrated how they are assembled and how all the parts work together. After the class, the kids became flight students and were assigned to instructors at the flight line. Each student was allowed to fly one of the fleet of trainer models using a 'buddy box'. The buddy box is a separate transmitter which contains the controls for flight, but under the strict control of an instructor who can take over the flight of the model in case the student gets into trouble.

About 20 members of the Palomar Flyers turned out to help with this event. Flight instruction began at about 9:30am and lasted through noon. Snacks and drinks were made available during a break in the flight activities. Thanks to everyone that helped out in this event.
